Overview
This is an interesting example, as it’s a transitional model, still using the thinner cases, movements, and dial printing techniques from the 60’s. Yet the serial number and case back engravings indicate it was produced in the early 70’s
To me, these mid-sized Cintrée were clearly the inspiration for the modern Tank Américaine. But the case thinness on these vintage Cintrée wear much better on the wrist.
Condition
This watch is in exceptional condition for its age and one of the top examples available. Case is unpolished with very minor scratches. Hands retain their bright blue color with no corrosion. Dial has very minor wear, consistent with age. Movement is running well and was serviced in 2025. Strap is the original Cartier alligator leather band with original 18k deployant clasp showing Edmond Jaeger hallmarks
This watch was purchased from the original owner in England, the owner confirmed this watch was never serviced by Cartier and is 100% original, purchased in 1971 directly from Cartier.
